Here is my Confetti bird, created with scrap paper:

And below is my Confetti quilt that I made in 2009:

I had purchase a fancy sewing machine and was starting to take watercolor classes so I combined the two mediums.

Yes, the papers are squares of  a painted watercolor on paper that I cut-up and then sewed to my quilt.  It reminded me of confetti so it became the title for my quilt.  I also added a few beads and sequins for embellishment:

And I even sewed my name on the back!

A blogger friend of mine, creates fabulous experiments on paper that she is going to incorporate into art quilts.  She also draws AMAZING portraits of people.  You may want to check out her blog at Create Art Everyday.  And yes, she does create art every day like me!  🙂

    Oh wow! I sound like a broken record but I love it all. Love your whimsy style and attention to detail. Blown away and so inspired!!! And love our buddy at create art everyday too! Can’t wait to see her quilt some day.!!

    The birds and the quilt are awesome, though I think the giraffe is my favourite here, just love the multicolour combo with confetti 🙂

    Thank you, Jill, you’re very kind. 🙂 I agree with Jodi, I love all three of these!!! Love the big heart on the bird, the whimsy of the giraffe (and those colors!) and woo, that quilt is amazing. What a statement that one is making!! Really terrific work you have here, very impressed!!

    ah…what a lovely giraffe!!! Your quilt is amazing, and sewing paper, genious!! That is a work of love and devotion, and creative strength! Confetti is perfect….the bird that is. Perfect beak and expression.
