An American Robin

I found a dead Robin on the sidewalk in front of my home today.  I’m not sure how it died but I decided to include it in my nature journal today:

I see them everywhere here in the Pacific Northwest so I often take them for granted.  I enjoyed remembering my feathered friend today as I did a sketch in my journal with pencil first and then pen.  Finishing it with a loose watercolor painting and including a feather or two.  🙂

I did a collage of a Robin last Spring that you can find here.

Happy Friday!  🙂

    • Yes, I enjoy their song too, Kerfe! And I was quite surprised on the size of this Robin, when I took him to the woods to bury him. I know their is a nest near us because I saw a speckled breasted baby in our backyard recently. 😊💕

  4. Aww. It’s sad he died, but if he had to go, nice he found your sidewalk so you could memorialize him, Jill. Beautiful job. For the artist, nice to have a bird subject to study that is still. Have a nice weekend, friend!

    • Thanks Jodi! Sadly, this one’s lifespan was cut short. He looked so healthy when I picked him up and took him to the woods to bury him. 💜 Have a awesome weekend, Jodi! 😃

  8. Oh, poor thing. Birds sometimes die when they fly into our windows, so maybe that’s what it did? I’m so enjoying your nature pages! ❤

  11. What a beautiful entry to your journal today Jill!

I only see them around my house in the Spring when they’re passing through to find their Spring Summer nests in nearby parks and ponds.

It’s sad to hear you found a dead one today.

  13. This is so nice, love your notes to it! Poor little robin, I hope he died just because of his age… (probably not…). But you made something beautiful of it. That´s the wonderful thing in art, isn´t it?! Have a wonderful weekend, Jill! 🌞💕🌸
